Obtaining clean drinking water is a major issue facing the local communities. Boreholes, where they exist work intermittently and are still dependent on the rains. The majority of water used, which is collected from the nearby lake in jerry cans, is a health hazard.
The HUGE Partnership identified this as an area that we could support and have raised sufficient funds to build water tanks at the school to provide safe drinking water for all the students.
The school have also implemented a safe drinking water policy for all students, to ensure that they are getting adequate clean water to drink at school. The addition of the new water tanks also benefits 5 local families who have serious mobility/water access problems.
