The Tales of Nabugabo – Bassaleg school

Following Bassaleg’s Assistant Headteacher, Marc Batten’s first visit to Nabugabo Community Learning Centre, NCLC, in 2012, Bassaleg School pupils have taken the school to their hearts. Fundraising has raised over £8000 to date and they have helped to fund the building of a three pot stove in the new brick kitchen building, kitting out the food storage room with lockable cupboards, converting a store room to a library for all year groups and funding porridge for a year to enable the pupils to have breakfast when they arrive in school, ensuring that they enjoy two meals a day. Bassaleg fundraising

Following Assistant Headteacher, Marc Batten’s first visit to Nabugabo Community Learning Centre, NCLC, in 2012, Bassaleg School pupils have taken the school to their hearts. Fundraising has raised over £8000 to date through a number of different activities: Cake sales Sponsored individual events Summer concerts Sponsored form group marathon Zumba sessions Sweet stall at the school fete Donation of profits made from Team Enterprise activities Sales of HUGE charity Christmas cards. Projects Bassaleg have supported Pupils at Bassaleg school receive regular updates in assembly on progress at NCLC, where they can see for themselves the difference the money they have raised

HUGE Cricket Tournament

The first HUGE cricket tournament took place in July. Four teams and 40 players took to the pitches to compete for the coveted trophy. It was a great day of cricket with some excellent skill on display and right across the park. The generosity of players and spectators meant we raised a phenomenal  £3000 for the HUGE Partnership. Thank you to all those who took part and helped contribute to this wonderful event, and also to Pangbourne College for the use of their cricket pitches, we look forward to welcoming you all back next year to see who can come out on top.

Challenge Henley Triathlon

On the 8th September Jane Davies took part in the Challenge Henley Triathlon, a gruelling ironman event where Jane completed a 2.3 mile swim, 112 miles on the bike and finished off with a 26 mile run. In the process Jane raised over £600 for the HUGE partnership, enough to educate and support 3 children for a year. Thank you so much to Jane for this HUGE donation.
